Spring '13 Trends: Shopping List!

4:01 PM

Hey, loves. It's been awhile but glad to be posting again

Sorry, what? It's hot out...? Didn't think Canadian weather was capable of it. So now that it's here, time to start thinking about that spring wardrobe! In comparison to winter clothes, I've definitely invested more in spring/summer pieces so luckily I don't have to go on a giant haul when a new season rolls around - but of course - there are some trends I'm after. Below are my Top 3!

1. Neon & fluorescents.

Love, love, love this colour trend for SS13. Incorporating neon into your outfit is the perfect way to make what could be a monochromatic outfit pop. What's great about neon is that typically one showpiece or a couple of accents are enough before we start heading into highlighter territory. You can mix and match neon pieces such as a bright skirt with more conservative ones like a dark, solid top for a kick-ass outfit. You're young. Have some fun ;).

Lastly, below is a great colour guide I found on Pinterest (along with most of the images in this post) to help you master the perfect palette:

2. Cut-outs.

Cut-out tops, wedges and bathing suits... you name it. My favourite would have to be a cut-out dress where the front is super conservative, then the back is a show on its own. Cut-outs are an awesome way to add an element of surprise to your outfit and if you don't want to buy a pre-cut piece, there are so many DIY ideas to transform an old, basic t-shirt on the web!

Um, I think I need these.
ALDO | Wolfleda, $80

3. Printed Pants

Currently on the lookout for the perfect pair of printed trousers - floral, geo print, abstract... anything. Again, like neon, trying to put together too many bold prints can look messy. I'd stick with one focal point and pair this centrepiece with neutrals to balance it out. For example, a pair of skinny floral trousers with a loose cotton tank and structured blazer would look clean and effortless. Throw on a pair of heels and ugh, divine.

Here's a fun pair of slouchy trousers in paisley print:
ZARA | $59.90

Hope this post inspired you to play up your wardrobe this season! One more hooray for warm weather - yayayayayyayayayay!!!!!!!!

:) Have an amazing weekend, beautiful!
